For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

layers of white.....paper and stitch

The most recent page, composition, piece created over in ''artist book class''. This one is layered white paper, some stitch, a small scrap of lace cloth, a hand wrapped cord, a button and a sliver of silver chain. Put it all together and you get this, a page adornment yes but not only that....you also get more open space for more titivation and on it goes, a never ending palette for embroidery.
In the background you can see my own artist book, the artist book I intend to keep for myself and which is the first piece from the collection I hope to create over the twelve months of artist book class.  Twelve months sounds like a long time but already it feels like class is flying by too quickly.
